Turkish native Jilda Clark and husband of 22 years, Scottish academic Dr Philip Clark, had been planning to emigrate to Scotland with their two children in order to be closer to Dr Clark’s elderly parents but this plan now looks likely to be put on hold for some time.
The UK Border Agency’s decision has caused outrage to the family who are now appealing to both the UK and the Scottish Prime Ministers who had believed that Mrs Clark’s BA and MA in English language plus additional years of English teaching experience were satisfactory evidence of her capability with the English language. The appeal is still pending.
